Huntington Beach, Orange County in Southern California has labelled its town as the official Surf City, USA. The Huntington Beach Pier, at 1,850 ft in length, is one of the longest on the West Coast. The pier was damaged or destroyed at least four times since 1912. The latest structure has been reinforced with concrete, and is designed to withstand 31-foot waves or a 7.0 magnitude earthquake. The pier is a tourist attraction, as well as a popular spot for surfer watching and sports fishing.
